Fudge

Ok, this is really a dessert, but I’ve been snacking on it! My mother used to make fudge for Christmas and include it on the plates of cookies she’d bring to the neighbors, so I think it’s perfect for this time of year. This recipe could not be any easier – just melt the ingredients together in a pot, pour them into a pan, and let them cool! The mixture will thicken as you heat it, so don’t be worried if it feels very thick. The fudge will taste great!
Prep Time 15 minutes
Rest Time 3 hours
Servings: 64 pieces
Course: Snack

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14- ounce can condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch pan by greasing the bottom and sides with butter, then lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the chocolate chips, condensed milk, butter, and salt in a medium pot and heat over medium-low. Stir frequently until the ingredients have melted and start to thicken; it should have a similar consistency to peanut butter. Stir in the vanilla, then remove from the heat.
  3. Pour the mixture into the 8×8 inch pan. You may need to use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly. Let it cool for at least 3 hours, or until it has hardened into a fudge consistency.
  4. Remove from the pan and cut the fudge into 1-inch squares. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
